Statement

Date: July 26, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement today on Cindy McCain's participation in a roundtable discussion with members of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs on human trafficking of Native Americans:

"I want to thank my colleagues on the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs for welcoming Cindy today to discuss the crime of human trafficking of Native Americans. This issue is more severe than most people realize or that current law enforcement data reflects. For years, Cindy has worked tirelessly in Arizona and around the nation to improve victim assistance programs, strengthen human trafficking laws, and enhance law enforcement training. It has long been her passion to bring aid and comfort to the victims of this heinous crime, which traps an estimated 21 million individuals across the United States and abroad. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee to follow Cindy's example and address this crime that impacts some of the most vulnerable and at-risk individuals across Indian Country."
